What is the books genre/category?

The genre/category is - Self Help

What events/inspirations led up to you publishing your book?

I had been kicking the idea of writing a book around for a very long time. I just couldn't figure out the direction I wanted to take, but when a very dear friend took his own life I was devastated. I just want people to know that no matter how bad things are or how bleak the future may look, this too shall pass.

I read in your bio that you were in the navy for a significant amount of time, did your experiences in the navy influence your decision to become a writer?

I'm actually still in the Navy right now, I serve as a Chief Warrant Officer and I've been in for 27 years. My experiences in the Navy have driven me to educate and empower women in leadership.

Is there a common theme or life-lesson in your books?

The common theme through out my book is the to value the lessons of your struggles. It is vital to understand that if you never fall, how can you learn to get up?

What was the biggest challenge you encountered from when you started writing to the end of your process?

My biggest encounter while writing the book was overcoming procrastination. To complete the project, I had to aside an hour everyday to work exclusively on my book.

Besides personal life, where do you draw most of your inspiration from?

I draw my inspiration from father, Willie Murdock. I'm so grateful for the example he gave me of a man and the values he instilled in me as a parent. I have watched him overcome things that would have broken anyone else.

What can your readers expect from you in the coming years?

My readers can expect to see another book from me in the future. However, the next project will not be a workbook. I want to write something that will inspire and challenge women to excel in their professional lives.

What advice would you give to writers just starting out?

I would advice anyone interested in writing their own book to stay committed to their goal. Do not become discouraged when you experience writer's block and devote a portion of everyday solely to your writing.

Thank you to Ms. Strothers for your time and I hope we have a chance to talk again. It was truly a wonderful and memorable interview. For any readers interested  in the book, they can buy it off of amazon by  clicking here.
