Innocence

When they start to see what's written between the lines
When they concern themselves with the opinions of others
When they become self-conscious
When they go with the crowd
When they watch someone die

New York, New York

The harbor of New York
Was testing my faith…
So I waited…
And I waited…
The fame was not
Worth the wait.

Wall Street lied to me
Every chance it could take
So here I am,
In the financial district,
Crying outside a bank.

New York will shape you…
But then, can you escape it?
This place can be a prison,
But where isn’t,
If you make it?

You can love the Empire
Or you can loathe it.
The fortunate have robbed us,
And I will not choose
To ignore it.

You can fault the business man
As you can fault Lucifer…
So New York, New York,
Cry me a river…

Rather than a lake of fire.

A Memorable Interview with author Sherry Strothers

Today, I had an opportunity to sit down and talk with Sherry Strothers, the author of the new book, "Strength is in the Struggle." A Grand User Submission

My life is now my delusion,
A world made of fantasies.
Happiness is no longer the illusion,
My life is my new disease.

I Contemplate the Night

as the crickets make their music
the fog pirouettes across the fields
while moisture fights cohesion
and rolls over the edges of the clouds

One

I will not be written about in textbooks or studied in classes
Nothing large and ostentatious will be dedicated in my name
I will not make the front page when I visit a small town
My work will be worth the same amount when I die
But
If I can change one mind
Elicit one giggle
Start one discussion
Give one smile
Then every word I write is worthwhile

A Poem by Mikel Jabbary Mayers

Your Seed
Like a seed blowing across the wind
In many directions it may go;
Give it time, give it time
Let it sprout, let it sprout;

Step back, keep watch
Let it amaze you;
But don't go too far
Because it needs you;

Give it solid ground to stand upon
Water it with tears of happiness
Shine upon it with rays of love.

Inspirational Image

I believe that this quote is very true, yet unrealistic in at least our current modern culture
