Cracks

I walk along these cracked streets
Taking in every crevice, every patch
And cannot help but admire
its character throughout time.

By night, the rain fills in the openings between the asphalt
By day, the sun rises and the water fades away,
And I cannot help but understand
that this cracked street and I have a lot in common
as I look inward and consider
all of the cracks
in my own being.

New York, New York

The harbor of New York
Was testing my faith…
So I waited…
And I waited…
The fame was not
Worth the wait.

Wall Street lied to me
Every chance it could take
So here I am,
In the financial district,
Crying outside a bank.

New York will shape you…
But then, can you escape it?
This place can be a prison,
But where isn’t,
If you make it?

You can love the Empire
Or you can loathe it.
The fortunate have robbed us,
And I will not choose
To ignore it.

You can fault the business man
As you can fault Lucifer…
So New York, New York,
Cry me a river…

Rather than a lake of fire.

Untitled User Submission by D.M.C.B

It’s a shame now that it’s warm outside; we used to sit in the sun

smiling, joking about how happy we were.

My curtains have been drawn for a week

and when we said it couldn’t possibly last,

that it can’t be this good forever,

we were so sadly right.

Catullus 16 (Warning Graphic Language)

I will sodomize you and face-fuck you,
Cocksucking Aurelius and bottom-man Furius,
You who think that I'm a pussy
Because of my delicate verses.

On A Ledge

I feel like every lie I ever told
Stood against my soul
I'm just a neglected guitarist
That can rhyme
I faced the hard and the hardest
But I know I lost my time

It's a thin line between love and hate
Is you really real or is you really fake
I was a soldier standing on my feet
Now I'll surrender, now I'll retreat

There's a limit for struggle
After the very first 7 troubles
I can sit here thinking with caution
Forgetting all the reason of my misfortune
Death marks cut me... Deeply
I was too proud to admit it was hurting me

My angry heart
Winter nights dark
Now I see
The after life is missing me
I'm close to be there
This ledge is taking me somewhere.

!! (new user submission)

Another cut, to distract the pain,
Another pill, just to keep sane.
Alive but dead in a tormenting hell,
Knowing, you'll never fully get well.

Scaring away the few that stood by,
I scream to the heavens and ask God "why"?

Finally, someone sees I'm a monster,
They see the scars and the reasons they've conquered.

What they don't see is the pain that is hidden,
Deep within my heart it is written.

Living is now my hardest task,
Loneliness and depression carefully masked.

What they don't know from the nights I hate most,
In my top drawer, a crumpled suicide note.

Yes, it is true, I tried again to get out.
But I can't let them suffer for my cowardice and doubt.

So let the days keep trudging on, sooner or later,I'll sing death's song.

A world made of fantasies.

this is darkness, but this is love

you have me reeling through the middle of the night
emotions rocking and clock tocking in the wee hours
of the darkness and stillness of this velvety blackness
the constellations laugh down at me while i laugh up

Taking Back the Night

We soldiered on,in cropped tops and torn jeans,
wielding soggy cigarettes
and shooting thin wisps of smoke in the dark.
Exposed are the small of our backs,
the length of our arms,
the sides of our breasts
to the passionate lover that is the night.
The rain is kissing and biting, fast and hard
while the cold leave sweet painful lashes
on our bare pale skin.
They do not bother us anymore,
we are used to the endless list of lovers
who has made their mark on our skin
but are gone before they could even fade.
There is nothing to do except bow our heads
and shake them off hoping that our mascara won’t smear.
