Say It

Should I say it?
Should I wait?
My feelings flow quite easily,
but these questions are much harder.

God knows it's a sin to dare say it first,
but I can't help and almost say it
every time we say goodbye.
I know that's probably really bad,
but I don't care
Because with you....
no one compares.

Cracks

I walk along these cracked streets
Taking in every crevice, every patch
And cannot help but admire
its character throughout time.

By night, the rain fills in the openings between the asphalt
By day, the sun rises and the water fades away,
And I cannot help but understand
that this cracked street and I have a lot in common
as I look inward and consider
all of the cracks
in my own being.

New York, New York

The harbor of New York
Was testing my faith…
So I waited…
And I waited…
The fame was not
Worth the wait.

Wall Street lied to me
Every chance it could take
So here I am,
In the financial district,
Crying outside a bank.

New York will shape you…
But then, can you escape it?
This place can be a prison,
But where isn’t,
If you make it?

You can love the Empire
Or you can loathe it.
The fortunate have robbed us,
And I will not choose
To ignore it.

You can fault the business man
As you can fault Lucifer…
So New York, New York,
Cry me a river…

Rather than a lake of fire.

Untitled User Submission by D.M.C.B

It’s a shame now that it’s warm outside; we used to sit in the sun

smiling, joking about how happy we were.

My curtains have been drawn for a week

and when we said it couldn’t possibly last,

that it can’t be this good forever,

we were so sadly right.

On A Ledge

I feel like every lie I ever told
Stood against my soul
I'm just a neglected guitarist
That can rhyme
I faced the hard and the hardest
But I know I lost my time

It's a thin line between love and hate
Is you really real or is you really fake
I was a soldier standing on my feet
Now I'll surrender, now I'll retreat

There's a limit for struggle
After the very first 7 troubles
I can sit here thinking with caution
Forgetting all the reason of my misfortune
Death marks cut me... Deeply
I was too proud to admit it was hurting me

My angry heart
Winter nights dark
Now I see
The after life is missing me
I'm close to be there
This ledge is taking me somewhere.

this is darkness, but this is love

you have me reeling through the middle of the night
emotions rocking and clock tocking in the wee hours
of the darkness and stillness of this velvety blackness
the constellations laugh down at me while i laugh up

An Astoundingly honest user poetry submission

I lose myself in the thoughts
of these sinful wants.
it is truly so sinful,
for I envy every beautiful thing
that catches your attention faster than
I ever could.

Shattered

My primitive mind seeks knowledge of the unknown
My selfish deeds seek condolence of thine heart
My weary thoughts know nothing of remorse.....

The unknown is something I have not found,
The feeling of selflessness, love, and happiness....

The most beautiful sea:
                   hasn't been crossed yet.
The most beautiful child:
                   hasn't grown up yet.
Our most beautiful days:
                   we haven't seen yet.
And the most beautiful words I wanted to tell you
                   I haven't said yet...

Go To Hell

I've never known love,
Never been taken care of,
Never been held tight,
Never been told it will be alright.

He doesn’t hold her the same.
His hands are heavy and every time.
Every time he touches her hips she bruises.

The River by Liam Heaney

Here, stands a lonely river
Never been touched by the harshness of man
Slowly and quietly meandering
Through and through the peaceful valley

One

I will not be written about in textbooks or studied in classes
Nothing large and ostentatious will be dedicated in my name
I will not make the front page when I visit a small town
My work will be worth the same amount when I die
But
If I can change one mind
Elicit one giggle
Start one discussion
Give one smile
Then every word I write is worthwhile

It's All In the Mind

I saved my mind to a memory stick
so I can reboot each time I get sick.

My version control says don't ask me
and I've started to sing in MP3.

Along The Sea

As I wander far
Along the foreign strand
I feel the tug of home
Pulling on my hand,
I feel the loneliness
That I have made for me
Whenever I am here
On the edge of the sea.

Be Sweet To Me

the limbs are bare
exposed to the elements
vulnerable without
the cover of obvious beauty

shuddering at the slightest breath
and reachout out for shelter
in the season's embrace
swept up in the moment
and carried by the restlessness
of falling over and again
