Driftwood

I despise letting
The current drag me
Wherever it pleases.

Where the clouds
Are fluffy and clean,
As they drift aimlessly
On the warm breeze.

Where the land is flat
And paths are paved,
Easing my travel.

Where the trees are planted
In neat rows,
With their spines and leaves
Green with prosper.

I want to swim
Away and go
Where I please.

Where storms,
Black and menacing,
Hurtle winds that ravage
Both land and sea.

Where the land is rough;
Leaping from splendid valleys
To mighty mountains.

Where the trees battle
For the sun’s light;
Their bark thick and gnarled
With ancient power.

And I do go
Where I please,

Forever free.

Driftwood

I despise letting
The current drag me
Wherever it pleases.

As they drift aimlessly
On the warm breeze.

Where the trees are planted

With their spines and leaves

I want to swim
