The Bitter Cold

Like ice my heart hardens with the cold
My heart is dead and black, tossed aside, ripped asunder
Like lightning you have struck me down
You have broken my hopes just as thunder
Empty is my soul, without you I am but desolate flesh
You left me out in the dark
Was this what you wanted from the start?
Your rejection of my love has left me hallow
When I hear your voice it’s now tears that follow
When I sleep I am alive for I dream of you
But when I am awake I am dead for you are with someone new
Your beauty haunts my every thought Why my friend?
We had such happiness, one that could never be bought
On my love! I am ruined for you are no longer my love
You were my most cherished star, more beautiful than the heavens above
I was yours; my heart to you it was sold
But you have left me broken, numb, and cold
